Meridian Public School District Is Providing Lunch For Kids

In Meridian, the Meridian Public-School district is teaming up with The Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi, to distribute lunch to kids 18 and under.

The free grab and go lunches are being offered at both of The Boys and Girls Club locations in Meridian on 45th Avenue and 24th Street from 11am to 1pm, until further notice.

The lunches are being prepared by the district's nutrition staff and is available to children 18 and under.

“We have a walk up and a drive through system, like I said if they drive through we’ll get a head count and once we get the head count, we’ll go in there and we’ll get the meals and we’ll bring it, so we do have roadside service or if they walk up, we’ll be able to go ahead and stop them up front, see how many they need and then we’ll be able to go ahead and give them what they got to have”, said Jermaine Harris, director of operations for The Boys And Girls Club of East Mississippi.

“Very convenient, my kids --we always out doing things, so they decided they wanted to come up and eat with the club today, so that’s what we’re doing”, said Wendy Moffite, parent.

The Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi is hoping to offer dinner, if schools remain closed longer than anticipated.
