Representatives with the U.S Census spoke with 8th grade students at Magnolia Middle School on the importance of being counted and how it starts with filling out the census form.
Students learned also how education is funded based on the amount’s schools receive by the number of people completing the U.S Census.
“In The Meridian Public School District, we’re going to be focusing on how the census starts and even when it starts. We’re going to flood our social media accounts doing different initiatives in the schools sending notes home with kids and different things like that, making sure we do our part to make sure they’re aware of the census count,” said Matt Davis, Meridian Public-School District Public Relations Director.
Completing the Census takes ten minutes to complete and has ten questions. Ten years of impact will be based on the participation of this year’s Census.
