In Meridian, at Bonita Lakes Mall, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department held an active shooter presentation, that was open to the public.
The presentation was from 8:00am to 9:30am at “The Meeting Place” by Belk, and included tips on what to do in an active shooter situation.
Like run, hide, and fight which is also known as avoid, deny, defend.
The presentation was followed by a demonstration by Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun on how to disarm an armed person.
“I really enjoyed it; I learned a lot of things I didn’t know. I think we need to put more for our deputies that are out doing the job they do, any law enforcement that could be shot going into crowded places, everybody needs to be aware people walking around on telephones and talking, and not aware of the situation people walking around text messaging, that’s dangerous. People need to be aware and try to take an active part in their society”,said Frank Buckley, attended the presentation.
The Bonita Lakes Mall hopes to hold an active shooter presentation quarterly.
