Meridian High School's stage production receives special recognition

The Meridian High School theater students are taking their talents on the road.

They're invited to Little Rock, Arkansas to perform a play about a horrific event in that state.

The play is called "Death By Design."

It tells the story of 69 African American boys who were padlocked into a dormitory that caught fire;21 of those boys were killed in the fire.

“This would be an awesome experience. Some kids sometimes never get a chance to go anywhere. I want to give them the opportunity to go somewhere out of state and just visit history and see other parts of the United States,” said Randy Wayne, Theatre instructor.

“I’m so excited! So excited!”  said Jajuan Smith, Meridian High Junior

The students are performing the play at Meridian High School the weekend of February 22nd.
They will be at The Cultural Center in Little Rock the following weekend.
