Last Minute Shoppers

In Meridian, shoppers are rushing to stores to finish their holiday shopping.

The parking lots at the Meridian Crossroads Shopping Center and Bonita Lakes Mall were filled with shoppers brave enough to face the crowds of those hunting for last-minute gifts.

While most shoppers aim to complete their holiday shopping on super Saturday, The Saturday before Christmas, some still wait until Christmas Eve for those final purchases.

Local retailers welcome the rush!

“Last minute shoppers, it’s always a very good day for our retailers, there’s a lot of people that it just sneaks up on and you realize, oh you know, I forgot a gift or I still have something I need to go get”, Renee Williams, Bonita Lakes Mall General Manager.

The Bonita Lakes Mall General Manager also admits, she, herself, is a last-minute shopper.

“I have been doing a lot of last-minute shopping myself this morning”, said Williams.

Today, some shoppers told Twin States they were thankful it was a smooth trip to the mall.

“We actually got lucky to get in and out cause normally last-minute shopping can be stressful, but we got in and out thankfully, I’m happy”, said Meissa Thomas, shopper.

And then there are first-time last minute Christmas shoppers, enjoying the hustle and bustle and deals!

“I love last-minute shopping, there’s a lot of great deals going on, and we had black Friday, but this is also great deals going on today, so I had to come out and get some last-minute stuff”, said Shawn House, shopper.

But some do say they regret procrastinating.

“Don’t wait the last- yeah, don’t wait ‘til the last minute like me!”, said Terry Clonts.

According to the National Retail Federation total spending for this holiday season is expected to range from more than 727 billion dollars to 730 billion dollars.
