Lauderdale County supervisors move forward with asbestos removal

Lauderdale county supervisors are moving forward with the removal of asbestos at the former Village Fair Mall site.

Removing the asbestos will help with the demolition that will make way for the new courthouse.

“The Courthouse is run down, and It looks to me like it has mold in it, it’s falling apart. It’s not a good work environment. Anything that they do improve the work environment for the people to work here and it’s going to be convenient,” said Larry Gilmore, resident.

It’s expected the asbestos removal and the demolition costs will top two million dollars.
