Love Out Loud Meridian transformed Highland Park in Meridian into a water play area so youth with the Boys and Girls Club could enjoy the outdoors.
“We have slides and snow cones from Kona Ice, and chunky jump zones. Everybody brought in things and we could come out here and let the kids come out here and have a good time, get outside, be cool and just something fun for The Boys & Girls Club,” said Ben Shirley, volunteer.
Youth with Love Out Loud say they have learned a lot from serving others.
“I have served a lot,” said Madison Storey.
“I’m very excited to be doing it even though I am a teenager and I have better things to do, but I love and enjoy doing this; it’s a highlight of my week,” said Kaylei Neal.
Several youths with The Boys and Girls Club found the fun water day to be very rewarding.
“Some of us don’t have enough money to go the water parks and Geyser Falls to travel, so I think they did really good with coming out with water and providing for us,” said Abri Thomas.
Youth with The Boys & Girls club are considering paying it forward themselves.
“It encourages me because it wants me to do something for the community of Meridian,” Said Amber Benamon.
“I want to because I want to become a teacher so. I want to help everybody else have fun, education good time,” Thomas said.
