While students have been on summer break, the faculty and staff at Southeast Middle School have been hard at work for the fall semester.
“It’s like, a lot of people don’t think we have a lot going on, but in fact we have all of our furniture’s in the hallways, we get the floors cleaned; we clean up everything from bathrooms, to the yards, to the offices to get all of our new things in for our students for next year.” Said Brittney Chaney, Southeast Middle principal
The middle school teachers do this in hopes of getting that head start on planning before students show up in a couple of months.
“They start out cleaning and organizing and throwing out the old stuff, bringing in the new stuff, but many of them even start planning for next year, what did I do well last year, what should I do better for next year or what really went well, and what do I want to be sure to do next year, just like I did this year.” Chaney Said.
Chaney says followed by several weeks, teachers usually work five or six hours in one day to get their classroom in order.
“Our teachers will spend 2 to 3 weeks either cleaning up from the previous year or getting ready for the next year; you know total combine, so they’ll normally spend within two to three weeks up here doing those types of things.” Chaney Said.
