City of Quitman board meets to discuss street adjustment

A decision will come soon regarding the narrow parking Situation In The City of Quitman, Mississippi.

Mayor Eddie Fulton has officially proposed to the city aldermen that Main Street should have a parallel parking design to compensate for the narrow one-way street that has caused quite a few accidents in the area.

Mayor Fulton says the aldermen have placed the item on the agenda to be voted on in their regular meeting scheduled for tonight.

“We’re going to give up a number of parking spaces, but at the same time it will be a much more driveable

and safer street, and so we have to look at it from the  overall viewpoint, and yes; I’m very delighted that we’ve made this decision. I’m very happy with the board, the board been wanting something done for the last year, so we’ve finally going to get the point where we get it done.” Said, Mayor Eddie Fulton.

If approved; the new parking design will be completed in July this year.
