Be sure to grab your blankets and a lawn chair because the Meridian Council for the Arts is putting on a series of free summer and fall shows to entertain locals and bring in travelers. As part of a Quality of Life project, beginning next Thursday, June 20th, Third Thursday will kick off from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. These family fun events will take place at Dumont Plaza downtown and will feature live music, arts, dancing, and food trucks. Music will be provided by local artist Britt Gully and the Water Moccasins, along with Honeyboy and Boots from Starkville, Mississippi.
"We really want to just give the community something to do. In the summer, I know everybody has their travel and vacation, but we want Meridian to be your destination. There's so many talented people here, so many different things to do, and this is just something else that's going to be fun,” said Leslie Lee, who is a board member with the Meridian Council of the Arts. These events will take place on the following dates: June 20th, July 18th, August 15th, September 19th, and October 24th. Each event will feature different artists.
