Board moving forward after accidental sharing of employee personal information

Around 100 Lauderdale county employees recently received a major scare after an accidental email was sent containing personal information. County Administrator Chris Lafferty accidentally forwarded this email intending to remind employees about healthcare enrollment. Inside this email originally from healthcare provider for employees, it contained personal information such as social security numbers. The email was not encrypted. Board president Jonathan Wells says they are taking every measure necessary to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

“We’re just doing our best to remedy the situation protect our people, and we’re looking into software to where this will never happen again.”  

Wells says employee health information was not in the email.
