There’s good news for residents within District 5 of Lauderdale county: the Vimville- Causeyville road bridge is on its way to being repaired. The Lauderdale county board of supervisors accepted bids late last week for the project, and they accepted the lowest bid from Joe McGee Construction Company, Inc. at $720,075.50. The board applied for an emergency bridge repair fund and out of it three bridges within the county are to be repaired—including this one.
“The state will have to approve everything with the contractor. Our county engineer said come next month construction should start,” said District 5 Supervisor Kyle Rutledge. The project is lined up to be finished over 110 working days. The bridge was officially closed at the end of 2017. The board tried to keep it open as long as possible, however, the Federal Highway Administration suggested they shut it down completely until it’s repaired.
