March 20, 2019

This year marks the second Allie Cat Run & Festival to be held in Meridian. it started after a family lost their beloved daughter due to a tragic accident, after her passing, they used her organs to help save a life.

“My husband and I made a decision to donate her organs, and she was able to save two people in doing so.” Said, Leslie Carruth Allie Cat Run & Fest co-founder.

In honor of Allie’s name, this festival is centered around encouraging others to want to do the same.

“We are honoring her in this way because it’s something that she would absolutely love to have people come out ,and not about Allie, but the main picture is to have the donors and recipients through MORA that are represented.” Said, Leslie Carruth Allie Cat Run & Fest co-founder.

The festival starts off with several participants showing off their athletic skills.

“It’s a 5k and a two-mile walk, and the kids fun run.” “It helps support not only the donors, and the families, but also the ones that have received.”  Said, Leslie Carruth Allie Cat Run & Fest co-founder.

After the run ends, the fun doesn't end there, it is followed by more activities.

“There are tons of other activities that are going to on the city hall lawn, all day, live music, food, blow ups, bounce houses, obstacle courses, face painting, pony rides petting zoo.” Said, Leslie Carruth Allie Cat Run & Fest co-founder.
