West Lauderdale Elementary School teachers aim to improve literacy

West Lauderdale Elementary School teachers are finding ways to help improve students overall reading. This is part of the newly developed literacy plan that focuses more on having students read for longer periods of time.Several classes will meet for 45 minutes; this will help students increase their reading skills and help them improve in taking assessments including the state issued test.Teachers are also using the standards mastery system which consists of several assessments given to students that help teachers quickly identify the areas that students are struggling in.
