Rush Health Systems is facing “extreme budget challenges” according to a statement released by the hospital. To cut expenses, the hospital is reducing its staff by 4 percent, which means at least a hundred jobs will be lost.
The human resources director, Scott Vincent, said the staff reductions are due to a decrease in reimbursements, especially from Medicare and Medicaid. He added that the hospital is working to eliminate positions that least impact patient care.
Rush Health Systems is the area’s largest non-governmental employer.
