Relay for Life in Lauderdale County is fighting cancer one step at a time.
“Relay for Life was started on a track. That’s the reason we’re excited to be back at MCC, so we can walk around the track,” said Cathy Raley, the event chair.
The walk is Friday night. Gates open at 5:30 and the opening ceremony starts at 7:00. Participants are expected to walk the entire track for as long as they can due to the idea that cancer never sleeps.
“There’s not any one that’s not been touched by cancer, either a family member or friend or coworker,” said Raley.
Relay for Life for Lauderdale County hopes to raise as much money as possible to help fund research.
“We do have a goal of $255,000. We exceeded that last year. I think we’ll exceed that again this year,” said Raley.
She explained that those who plan to hit the track will be in for a treat.
“A lot of fun, music, entertainment, and some of the best food you’ll ever find will be out here Friday night.”
