In yesterday’s city council meeting, Mayor Percy Bland recognized volunteers with the Foster Grandparents program. The program helps people ages 55 and over to stay active by serving youth in the community.
“What they do with the children in the various educational settings like public schools, county schools, and private schools, is make progress with children with special and exceptional needs,” said Sabrina Wilson, the coordinator for the Foster Grandparents program in Lauderdale County.
The program is sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Yesterday was Mayor and County Recognition Day for National Service.
