Total Rehab, a new physical therapy clinic in Meridian, has opened its doors and is ready to serve the community. Today local officials and community members gathered at the clinic for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
“I’m a local, hometown guy. I went to school for seven years. I’m glad that I finally got to come back and give to the local community, So I’m excited. I used to work for a larger company, and now I own my own business. It’s a blessing,” said Stephen Kay, who owns the clinic.
Physical therapy is a type of treatment that helps patients regain motor skills.
“There are different types of physical therapy. There are in-patient and out-patient skilled nursing facilities. I know what we work on is a lot of post-surgeries. There is a lot of range or motion, stretching, strengthening, and building back balance and things like that,” said Tyler Hughes, a physical therapist who works at the clinic.
Kay said he’s excited to see his dream come true after months of hard work.
“It took probably five or six months to get all the legal work ironed out and get all the equipment in here. Then we started seeing patients on May 8th.”
Kay said he looks forward to seeing the clinic grow.
“I’ve always enjoyed serving the community and seeing people get better after an injury. This is just the next extension. There’s a wonderful staff, wonderful setting, and just serving people is what we do. It’s why we do it, because we love it.”
