Marion Police gives out school supplies

The Marion Police Department took a break from fighting crime to donate to kids in the community.

Today, officers collected 864 book bags that will be given to needy students in the area.

The school collection drive started two months ago, and all items collected will serve East Mississippi and West Alabama schools.

Tomorrow, the precinct will be giving away those school supplies.

“We want to thank the community and the donors that actually helped to make this possible. It was our time that we took personally to give to make sure that this happened but we couldn't have done it without the donors and people have really come out and shared a little of what they had,” said Tracy Hill-Watts Marion Police.
