The Meridian Public School District announces new football coach

A new head football coach has been announced for Meridian High School.

School district leaders called a special meeting to announce John Douglass as the new coach.

He's a 19-87 graduate of MHS and has ten years of coaching experience.

Douglass coached previously at Quitman High School where he led the panthers to their first-ever championship in 20-11.

The coach says he'll emphasize excellence for his players on the field and in the classroom.

“The football program is a program that sustains itself, year in and year out; you know obviously there’s going to be years where you’re better than others, but a good sound program doesn't fall off tremendously and it’s kind of maintains its self each year, so we want to get to that point.” Said John Douglass, head MHS football coach.
